The Transformation that brings bountiful harvest

Romans 12:2

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

We are perfectly useless as Christ-exalting Christians if all we do is conform to the world around us. And the key to not wasting our lives with this kind of success and prosperity, Paul says, is being transformed. “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed.”

True transformation comes when we receive a greater vision than our current realities. Until we perceive the vision which inspires us into a true transformation, we are bound to remain the same or even go lesser.

“We are perfectly useless as Christians if all we do is conform to the world around us.”

True transformation is supernatural and from the inside out. It involves more than a change in your words and behavior. It is a change in your heart, attitudes and thoughts.

You can’t be transformed by applying will-power and “trying harder”. There is only one path to true transformation. You must allow Christ – and His Word – to be the center of your life.

The mind has a “spirit.” In other words, our mind has what we call a “mindset.” It doesn’t just have a view, it has a viewpoint. It doesn’t just have the power to perceive and detect; it also has a posture, a demeanor, a bearing, an attitude, a bent. “Be renewed in the spirit of your mind.”

“The problem with our minds is not merely that we are finite, but that we are fallen.”

The problem with our minds is not merely that we are finite, and don’t have all the information. The problem is that our minds are fallen. They have a spirit, a bent, a mindset that is hostile to the absolute supremacy of God. Our minds are bent on not seeing God as infinitely more worthy of praise than we are, or the things we make or achieve.

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind.” Oh, how crucial this is!

  • If you long to break loose from conformity to the world,
  • If you long to be transformed and new from the inside out,
  • If you long to be free from mere duty-driven Christianity and do what you love to do because what you love to do is what you ought to do,
  • If you long to offer up your body as a living sacrifice so that your whole life becomes a spiritual act of worship and displays the worth of Christ above the worth of the world,

then give yourself with all your might to pursuing this — the renewal of your mind that brings true transformation. Because the Bible says, this is the key to transformation. “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind.”

A true transformation is realized when :

1. We receive a revelation from God concerning His plan over our lives

2. We get to know who we are in Christ Jesus

3. We know which work that God has given us individually and collectively

4. We evaluate ourselves against the gifts that God has given us

5. We bear as a result of the resources that God had given us

We need to get a revelation from God of knowing who we are at any given time in our lives.

When we turn around from the former things, when the old structure is brought down and the new structure is put up, when the carnal man is consumed by the spiritual man, we enter a new dispensation which changes the old and brings up the new.

When we are transformed from our old ways of life and we start walking in the new ways of God, Every aspect of our lives have to reflect the presence of God.

The transformation of the turn-around should be observed in every aspect of our lives: In our spiritual aspects and in our social economic aspects.

Gods transformation is all round.

Many Christians portrays a transformation that is only spiritual. They become prayerful, they commit to the attendance of the church, they seek the word of God and so on.

Very less transformation happens in the social economic areas of their lives. The status of their social economic lives does not improve. It remains the same or it goes worse.

This should not be the case. Indeed, Gods transformation is all round. Lets look at several references and see a transformation that resulted into an all round change.

The widowed woman.

2 Kings 4:1-7 - Elisha and the Widow’s Oil

A certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha, saying, “Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that your servant feared the Lord. And the creditor is coming to take my two sons to be his slaves.”

2 So Elisha said to her, “What shall I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house?” And she said, “Your maidservant has nothing in the house but a jar of oil.”

3 Then he said, “Go, borrow vessels from everywhere, from all your neighbors—empty vessels; do not gather just a few. 4 And when you have come in, you shall shut the door behind you and your sons; then pour it into all those vessels, and set aside the full ones.”

1 Kings 17:7-16 -Elijah and the Widow at Zarephath

13 Elijah said to her, “Don’t be afraid. Go home and do as you have said. But first make a small loaf of bread for me from what you have and bring it to me, and then make something for yourself and your son. 14 For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘The jar of flour will not be used up and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the Lord sends rain on the land.’”

15 She went away and did as Elijah had told her. So there was food every day for Elijah and for the woman and her family. 16 For the jar of flour was not used up and the jug of oil did not run dry, in keeping with the word of the Lord spoken by Elijah.

Luke 19:1-10 - Zacchaeus the Tax Collector

But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.”

9 Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. 10 For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”

How should we live (Bear a bountiful havest) when we are transformed by the word of God?

Deuteronomy 28

1 If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth. 2 All these blessings will come on you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God: 3 You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country.4 The fruit of your womb will be blessed, and the crops of your land and the young of your livestock—the calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks.5 Your basket and your kneading trough will be blessed. 6 You will be blessed when you come in and blessed when you go out. 7 The Lord will grant that the enemies who rise up against you will be defeated before you. They will come at you from one direction but flee from you in seven. 8 The Lord will send a blessing on your barns and on everything you put your hand to. The Lord your God will bless you in the land he is giving you. The Lord will establish you as his holy people, as he promised you on oath, if you keep the commands of the Lord your God and walk in obedience to him. 10 Then all the peoples on earth will see that you are called by the name of the Lord, and they will fear you. 11 The Lord will grant you abundant prosperity—in the fruit of your womb, the young of your livestock and the crops of your ground—in the land he swore to your ancestors to give you.

12 The Lord will open the heavens, the storehouse of his bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands. You will lend to many nations but will borrow from none. 13 The Lord will make you the head, not the tail. If you pay attention to the commands of the Lord your God that I give you this day and carefully follow them, you will always be at the top, never at the bottom. 14 Do not turn aside from any of the commands I give you today, to the right or to the left, following other gods and serving them.
